What Does an Admissions Counselor Do?
|
Strategy |
Contents |
Process |
|
Determines your relative strengths and weaknesses compared to benchmarks of past admitted and denied students who applied to similar programs |
Helps you read between the lines to determine why admissions committees (adcoms) ask each application, essay and interview question |
Guides you step-by-step towards success using time-tested methods & customized creativity |
|
Helps you research the current admissions environment at your target schools |
Provides an objective view of your materials, as adcoms are likely to view them |
Pulls the best performance out of you, like a choreographer, personal fitness trainer, or athletic coach |
|
Learns with you to understand current issues in your industry / field so that your goals and accomplishments sound fresh and insightful to non-expert readers |
Gives practical suggestions for how to present your goals, leadership, and personal essays so outsiders from a different cultural background can understand what makes you truly impressive |
Motivates you to keep pace with an ambitious but realistic application schedule |
